MONMOUTH BEACH NJ, A gorgeous sunny day was interrupted in stately Monmouth Beach today. Just before 11:00am neighboring Long Branch fire units were returning from a call in the city when they noticed smoke in Monmouth Beach according to police.

Long Branch units notified Monmouth County radio at the same time they received a 911 call on the fire. A two story residential at 18 Valentine St was well involved in fire on the second floor “C” side. Stations 33-1, Monmouth Beach, 43-1 Sea Bright, and District 25 Long Branch were dispatched for a working structure fire. Long Branch arrived on location and dropped a five inch supply line and went to work right away. Sea Bright Ladder 4390 arrived and took the “A-B” corner and their crew went to work. Fort Monmouth Station 75-1 was the RIT assignment.

Monmouth Beach Ladder 3391 and Engine 3376 arrived on scene and their crews went to work. 3368 Monmouth Beach Asst. Chief Scott Shanker had command. The fire was knocked down very quickly and damaged was contained to the second floor rear. The fire is under investigation by local and county officials.
