32 Myrtle Avenue 8/20/2010 -
No one was hurt in a blaze that charred two levels of a Myrtle Avenue home late this morning.
A resident of 32 Myrtle called in the fire around 11:30 a.m. and immediately evacuated the home. Firefighters had the blaze under control by 11:45 p.m. No one was injured and the fire did not threaten neighboring homes, Fire Chief Al Sico said.
The fire started on a workbench in the basement. It crawled up a wall and into a first floor bedroom before crews were able to put it out. Smoke had damaged the entire two-story home, Sico said, and windows were broken.
The exact cause of the fire is under investigation, Sico said.
